UCWCP (Union Construction Workers’ Compensation Program)

A collectively bargained alternative dispute-resolution program for union construction workers’ comp claims in Minnesota, with its own mediation track and participating QRC list.

The Union Construction Workers’ Compensation Program is a collectively bargained system covering many union construction employers and locals in Minnesota. Authorized by Minn. Stat. § 176.1812, it routes covered claims into an alternative dispute-resolution track (typically emphasizing early mediation and arbitration) instead of the standard litigation path.

For covered workers the practical differences are procedural: disputes move through the program’s process first, and rehabilitation services come from the program’s list of participating QRCs rather than the open market. Benefit amounts themselves remain governed by the statute; the program changes how disputes are resolved, not what benefits are worth.

If you are a union construction worker, check whether your employer participates before assuming the normal dispute forms apply. Our directory maintains the participating QRC list when published.
